Importance of choosing a reputed colleges - To get a good career start, choosing a top college is important. If anyone gets a good career start, it is like half the success is achieved. Later career chart may be designed afterwards. Choosing a good college is important as, the student who has passed out from a reputed college, always has a special place in the job market. Those who are just entering in their college life, it is very important for them to focus on their academic goals. For that, students first need to consider what exactly their passion is and what is that they want to excel in. Many times, we see the examples of career confusion like the person who is in the science stream is a literature lover. To avoid such case, it is very essential to know your taste of career before opting for a specific college.

Nature of Indian Colleges: - In the year 2010, there were 19,000 plus colleges in India. The degree colleges impart courses in arts, science and commerce stream at undergraduate level. But today, many colleges also offer post graduate level study programs in law, technology, management and education field. There are private colleges as well as government colleges. Privately run colleges occupy 70% space of the educational system. Out of that 70%, we can say that 30% colleges are at rural regions in India. State government offers them the financial aid even though they are private in nature. Some of the private colleges in India include, Amity School of Engineering and Technology (Noida), ICFAI Institute of Science and Technology (Hyderabad), Manipal Institute of Technology (Manipal).

Around 14 % to 22% is the percentage of colleges that are run by the government. They include, Pondicherry Engineering College, Regional Institute of Technology (Jamshedpur, Jharkhand), Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Technology (Kottayam, Keral).

Top Listed Colleges in India: -
The top engineering colleges in India are, IIT (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kanpur, Guwahati,Varanasi, Kharagpur, Roorkee, Pilani).

The top management colleges include, IIM (Delhi, Bangalore, Kolkatta, Indore, Kozhikode, S. P. Jain Institute of Research and Management (Mumbai).

The top Medical colleges are, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (Delhi), St. John’s medical college (Bangalore), Armed Forces medical college (Pune).

Some of the top law colleges in the country include, National Law School of India University, Symboisis Society’s Law college, Amity Law School.

Some of the top Arts colleges are, St. Xavier’s college, Fergusson college, St. Stephen’s college. The top commerce colleges include, R.A.Poddar college (Mumbai), NM College of Commerce (Mumbai), Shri Ram college of commerce, Hansraj college (Delhi).

The top Mass Communication colleges include, IIMC (Delhi), Film and Television Institute of India (Pune), Xavier Institute of Communication (Mumbai), Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media (Bangalore).
