Roof-top Solar Power Generation in Rajasthan


Rajasthan Government to introduce "Roof-top solar power generation" Scheme in Jodhpur as per Rajasthan Budget 2013-14 announcement from Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. Rajasthan is not first state to implement "Roof top solar power generation" project as Kerala and Gujarat already announced this scheme and way ahead in implementation of Roof top solar power generation scheme in state. Rajasthan Govt. allotted Rs. 100 Crore to implement this scheme in Jodhpur city where abundance solar energy is available for more than 9 Months in a year. 
The rooftop power plants offer several other advantages including:
* Decrease in Transmission and Distribution (T&D) losses
* Low gestation time
* Improvement of tail-end grid voltages
* Availability of solar energy for whole year in western Rajasthan.

National Film Awards 2013 Winners

National Film Awards 2013 Winners: Tigmanshu Dhulia’s film on an athlete-turned-dacoit, S Paan singh Tomar, was named the best film at the 60th national film awards for 2012. Actor Irrfan Khan shared the award for best actor for his performance in the film with Vikram Gokhale for Marathi film Anumati. Rajasthan Lokayukta - Justice Sajjan Singh Kothari


Former judge of the Rajasthan High Court Justice Sajjan Singh Kothari was today sworn in as Lokayukta. Governor Margaret Alva administered him oath of office in the presence of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. Chief Justice Amitava Roy, members of council of ministers, BJP State President Vasundhara Raje and senior officers were present during the ceremony at Raj Bhawan.  The post had been lying vacant since May last year after the retirement of G L Gupta. Kothari's selection was made by a panel that included the Chief Minister, Leader of Opposition and the Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court.
Justice Kothari was born on 10th October, 1950 in Ajmer. He completed his graduation from Government College, Ajmer in the year 1970 and did L.L.B. in 1973 from the same college. He worked as District & Sessions Judge in Tonk, Kota and Rajsamand districts between 2000 to 2008. Justice Kothari joined as Principal Secretary (Law), Govt. of Rajasthan on 12 May, 2008 and worked on this post till 23 May, 2010. He was elevated as Additional Judge, Rajasthan High Court on 24 May, 2010. On September 9, 2011 he became Permanent Judge in Rajasthan High Court and retired on October 9, 2012

Jnanpith Award 2012 Winner - Dr Ravuri Bharadwaja


Jnanpith Award 2012: Telugu writer Dr Ravuri Bharadwaja was selected for the prestigious Jnanpith award for the year 2012, he was earlier awarded Sahitya Akademi Award. The 86-year-old writer, who has to his credit more than 37 volumes of short stories and 17 novels among other works, was chosen for the award by a selection board chaired by noted poet Sitakant Mahapatra, a statement of Jnanpith Award committee said in New Delhi on Wednesday. The books of Bharadwaja, who had education till Class VIII only, had been prescibed as text books in universities and even been the basis of many research works. "Bharadwaja passed through all sorts of vicissitudes of life but continued his service to Telugu literature with perseverance. He is a poet, a playwright, a novelist of distinction and a popular science writer," the statement said.
About Ravuri Bharadhwaja: Ravuri Bharadvāja was born on 1927. He has written 37 collections of short stories, seventeen novels, four play-lets, and five radio plays. He has also contributed profusely to children's literature. Paakudu Raallu, a graphic account of life behind the screen in film industry, is considered his magnum opus. Jeevana Samaram is another of his popular works. He is educated till Class 7 only. However his books are used as course works in B.A, M.A and there have even been several Phd degrees awarded for research on his works. He got honorary doctorates from Andhra, Nagarjuna and Jawaharlal Nehru Technological Universities for his literary prowess.
